Hey Fellas

I bought a 10' graphite composite rod last week and used it on the weekend, its a fast tapered rod ment for spinning

well i lost 4 lures casting because the line wraps itself around the top part of the rod and around the eyes? and i dont know how it gets like this???
has anyone had similar problems before?
could it be that the eyes are too close to the rod?

is there anyway to fix it? because i dont really wanna check if my line is right before i cast everytime

Regards

Sounds like braid to me.
I could be wrong but I get the same happening tome when I flick with braid. I think there is a bit of techinique invloved.
It also happens if you oversize your mono as well.

sometimes, if you are using an egg beater, & you use a leader, a loose loop of line on the spool can be picked up by the knot joining the line & leader, the knot will drag the loose line up through the guides along with it. it will get to a point where it is meant to come off the reel & will want to travel back down against the cast, causing it to wrap around a guide,
SNAP, bye bye lure. have lost a few this way over the years.
cheers

im using an Epix EFS80 with one spooled with 10kg hawk mono
and the other spooled with 15lb platypus platinum
i mainly use 25lb leader with an albright knot between the two line
ive used it twice after that lure lost incident but i havent had the same problem yet???
so maybe i just had to get used to the rod ?
