Depends which Gps company you go with.
We use garmin with bluechart.
Garmin updates these cards every year or two for a cost.
Garmin software updates for these units can be downloaded of there website or take it into a garmin agent and they'll do it 4 you if you baught the unit off them.
So there is no reason for you to ever have out of date charts.

Garmin i have found is like using a Nokia mobile once you can use one.The functions are very similar to the rest of the range.

You can get pc programs for garmin as well.

Have a good look around at what's on the market in your price range.
I looked at it like this.I've just gone and paid a shitload of cash 4 a boat so another couple of grand spent on a good gps is an investment to protect the boat.
