Hi, just another new boy looking for some sound advice.

Looking for a spin rod (any brand) that would be long and light enough for throwing lures for long periods off the rocks and also to be used in a boat, fishing for mackeral, tuna and some other bloody things that we just can't seem to turn.
I want to match it with my Penn 850 and use 10-15 kg mono.

Does such a rod exist?

Any help appreciated.

hi fishclaus
welcome to the site
I would have thought 10 to 15 kg line was a bit heavy for throwing lures, going to cut the cast distance down, I think to get a rod as you descibe, maybe a custom is the way to go or take your reel to a local tackle shop and mount it on a few rods for a feel of weight and balance
cheers

Try an 8 ft Wilson Live Fibre 8-10kg stick.

hey fishclause.
i use an 850 spinfisher for my slug chucking out fit on my boat.i reccon off the shelf a 8to 10 live fibre made by wilson or if your on a budget k mart sell a 2.40 metre jarvis walker ,6-10kg integra rod.i know it sounds bad but slug sticks i find are the most likely rods to get broken in the boat and thats the best of the cheapies i reccon.
as blaze said you wont cast far with 10-15 mono you could get a spare spool for your reel and use 15kg braid just for casting, cheers scott

Thanks for your advice fellas. I thought that such a rod might be a tall order. I'll just have to find a good tackle shop.

cheers.

Anyone used a 10 ft spin rod out of a boat? Or is it too hard on the back.
