Anyone have or know who to talk to (apart from the big name mariner shops) to get an adjustable seat,I need one that will adjust up from the stem,The seat I now have is ok when sitting forward but when turned to around to fish only gives me approx. 12 inches of leg room,I'm hoping I can find one that will just slot into the hole in the floor (as is the case with the ones now in my Quinnie) without having to redrill a new base.Cheers Touchy.><>.

Touchy,

What if you had a plate made up with a piece of pipe that fits into the current hole in the floor ie same size as the current stem and on the other side of the plate a piece of pipe with the same ID as the OD of the stem. So when you want to fish pull your seat up put the plate into the floor and then put your seat into the other piece of pipe.

Trust you get what I'm on about

Hey snelly, My father in law had the same problem, and I tried to convince him to do the very same thing. He said he didnt want to have to get off the seat to move it and thats where it stayed.:( Was funny tho, he is a short man (ex-jockey) and when sitting in the chair his feet were like a foot off the floor. I became very good at catching him when he fell out of it, and usually going across the Noosa Bar..... hahaha, was always a fun day out with good old Roy !!!!
cheers
Les

Touchy,

Any good Aluminium welder could do it for you.

Some of the crew down your way should be able to point you in the right direction

Have you thaught about using a gaslift as in an office chair
i reckon that would be tops apart from being adjustible it would take the shock out of the ride.
I wonder if it's already been done?

That's a great idea T-bird. I want to do a similar thing is setting up a moveable seat when fishing to set it up further towards the stern and came to the same conclusion as Snelly with the tube to slot in and out of, but modifying an office chair is a great idea and you could also adjust the back and seat angle. Would probably have to change any screws over to stainless and ensure the base is kept covered with inox, but should work.

Heck why just the office chair, take the seat out of an old Berlina or statesman and you get electric up down forward etc heck that would be a seat to get the tongues wagging.
And when you lock up big you just strap on the seat belt. ;D ;D ;D

Fellas,
I got 2 office chairs fitted in my 3.8 bermuda tinny.Get a few laughs but after sittin in a comffey chair for hours at a time, with good back support, we get the last laugh.Ya can buy em at the dump shop for a couple of buks and replace em when they get too rusty or shabby
