Hi folks.

After having a go at fishing in Pejar Dam (between Crookwell and Goulburn) last weekend and catching nothing, I'm going to give fishing at Cronulla (in the south of Sydney) a go when I am in Sydney visiting family this weekend.

Being a rank beginner all I have is a 5ft rod with a cheapo reel and 6lb line.

Apart from know how, what else do I need when I go to Cronulla as far as bait or tackle goes? (We will be fishing from rocks/the shore)

Regards,

Dave.

David - Live in Qld but Cronulla would be no different than fishing here. It is best to plan a little before hand regarding just what type of fish you are targeting. If you are looking for normal estuary species like whiting and flathead then youre outfit is fine while learning. Would rig it up with just enough sinker weight to stay on bottom with a foot long trace with trusty red plastic near a long shank hook. Look for local tackle/baitshop and they should give you a fair idea where to head.

Look for structure whether it is deep water between sandbanks, weedbanks or around the rocky headlands. Use fresh baits and burley constantly in small amounts and you should see some sort of action.

Good Luck

its been a long time since i've fished around that area but try around in gadamatta bay(spelling) just a little south of cronulla there is a wharf which has a swimming net around it give around there a try. there are some sand flats around for pumping bait at low tide.
