Anyone own or researched the Roddy 175 or 181 reels by Penn? Thinking of getting one and interested in owner feedback; eg. quality of finish, reliability, drag system, price...

Thanks

I am pretty sure this came up a while back. You might find it if you do a search.

General opinion was that you are better off spending your money on something else I think.

Thanks Jeremy. I did a search back 150 days but I'll try a few more. Opportunity exists to buy at around $40 that's why I'm asking ;D

Just my opinion but spend that $40 on some good line and save up for a 'real' Penn reel, if Penn is the brand u want. My mate recently brought one off ebay and found out that it's just a cheap overseas (China or Korea) not sure, made reel which is marked Penn. Had 1 trip with it and put it back on ebay.
If u intend to use it for offshore work eg 10lbs+ and especially palegics (check spelling) u may be disappointed. For about $5-$10 more u can get a Okuma CL300L off ebay which he now has. This is equivilent to a TLD 15 and has caught many fish and copped a beating....
Just my thoughts.
