The cook wants a new reel as she finally decided the ol egg beater and 6ft 6 in rod is too hard to handle all day throwin lures.Trev(Awoonga) showed her how to use his Millionaoire now she wants one....
Lets hear wat you Experienced fisherpeople say.......Diawa or Shimano ???????

I have a cv-x millionaire 203A, very nice reel. lots of drag ive got 3.4 kgs out of it locked up. All the latest alloys and composite drag plates etc. Has ten magnetic cast control settings. Using 10lb braid ive thrown lures as light as 6 grams with it. It has the largest line capacity of any reel in its class etc. Its only con is that you have to unscrew the side plate off to adjust the cast control. but this is not really a problem as i just leave it permanently on about 5. truth is no matter how good the cast control is you still need to use your thumb if you want to do fancy casts under overhanging trees etc. Great reel can't go past it. Went through the same process when buying it in terms of compition with shimano and it appeared to be the supperior model. You can even bite the bullet and get a team daiwa baitcaster with the magnetic cast control on a dail on the side. The same deal with the shimano calcutta TE with a digital cast control for around $800. Anyway basically when purchased straight the millionaires have a better drag than calcuttas but if your going to put a custom drag kit in your reel it doesn't really matter.

Shimano has the name and the size, but after being at the Japan international sportfishing and tackle convention, I am convinced that Daiwa definately has the quality, variety and technology focused on producing the highest quality fishing gear - The only products i ever buy made by shimano is the stella or calcutta DC, as Daiwa is yet to improve on these 2 products, but excel in all other areas, especially in the baitcaster department you are talking about.

Just bought myself a Team Daiwa X 103HSD, price tag on the box was $559.99 but didn't pay that much for it, but what an awsome reel, but then again it would wanna be for the doe, smooth as a babies bum and cast's like a dream, my other favourite reel is also a Daiwa, TriForce Z but you can't get them anymore, the only Shimano in my collection I wouldn't give 2 bob for and it cost the same amount as the TriForce.
