i have tried gigging off the break wall using Sabiki baitchaser rig for live bait an in a hour got lots of puffer fish and one 6" tailor??.... any tips for getting few livies would be appreciated. excuse my ignorance but where i grew up in canada i only fished for trout and salmon never using live bait. give me a stream or lake and i show you a rainbow trout.
Patiently waiting to use livebait.

A baitball full of livies really helps.

no boat no sounder. where i was trying to catch the bait i could see heaps of gar fish and or what apeared to be pilchard or slimies.
As well schools of mullet but mullet don't seem interested in anything other than being chased by dolpins and big jewies which happened to be making a few passes at the time. I tried a popper but no luck this time. I did have a day of joy when i caught this tuna on a popper in the same spot. I guess it was a lucky day!

put a little pea sized piece of fish on the jig hooks then chuck some wet bread near your jig. that should do it
