Hope you can help?

After each fish (estuary in a boat ) what's the best way to clean our reels so they wind smoothly next time.

I've found my reasonably new reel that was smooth as anything when I got it is now a bit tighter and harder to wind.

Rinsed them and sprayed Inox into the hole in the main body under the spool and am wondering if I did the wrong thing.

Do I need to pull it to bits to clean it out.

Just bought my son a new Shimano outfit and want to keep it winding as smoothly as it is now .

Any feedback muchly appreciated

Brad.

Have a look on page 2 in this section under the heading "cleaning rods and guides" it may not be for you but works a treat for me,add to this a drop of light machine oil on the main rotor shaft and a drop on the pivot points where the bail arm meets the rotor head, also on the line roller.

firstly wash you reels down with suds then hose off.this gets rid of all the saltwater.then use crc tackleguard.spray the reel and then wipe off with clean rag making sure you get in all of those hard to get at places.then every 3-4 trips use some top quality tackle oil and oil the moving parts such as bearings, handles, etc.(anything that moves)use sparingly as a little goes a long way.
