OK,
I thought I had it all sussed, then things started to change my mind. So, what do you think would be a best match up for the TLD25. I know a lot of you guys have the 20 or 25 out there. I will be using min 30lb to max 80lb braid and using it for the deeper applications light game and chasing some of the bigger pelagics on the troll.
I did have in mind a Live Fibre 15-24kg 7'. But am I off on this, is it too much rod? Or is there just as good a rod but cheaper?

Oh, and the overhead live fibre version

That is the exact setup Chong has with his overhead. But his is a texalium live fibre. Sure looks the goods and he loves it.
I have the cheaper version with my off shore gear.
My rod is about 6', but my next will be 7'. That extra will be good to work a fish, keep it away from the boat and the prop, and give better leaverage with smaller fish.
But I am no ofshore expert. Hopefully others will add there thoughts.

I use the TLD/livefibre combo you mentioned and they seem a pretty good match. Not as good as some custom setups around but fine for an off the shelf purchase. Just have a good look at the rod as a few seconds have been floating around.

Go the 15-24kg Live Fibre, perfect match with the TLD25, I have that same combo with 50lb braid and also a TLD 30 on an 8ft 15-24kg and if I could hide another one here somewhere I get one. The classic M10 is also a good rod. They have come down a bit in price lately due to a new competitor in the retail business as we have all seen so shop around.

Have my 25 on a Penn 30 - 50 stand up, rod was about 60 bucks,no complaints and has had no trouble dealing with serious kongies.

I have 2 TLD-25's and both are matched up to Wilson Live Fibre 10-24kg Classic M-10's and they are spooled up with 35lb Shogun Pro-Red monofilament line. They're quite good for trolling and they are light enough to hang onto all day bottom fishing without breaking your back, yet they can stick it up most of what we chase around here.
Cheers,
NICK.

Silstar Crystal Power Tip,661 SWM or 661 SWH,definately not a Live Fibre, but a composite all the same and probably less than half the price.

for my tld 25 with 50lb braid i have a 6ft penn sports 15-24kg rod. it is the "bees knees" for deep water work.
so far it has pulled up a few nice cobia. biggest was 15kg and the rod performed brilliantly.

TLD 25/LiveFibre combo has landed us some big hoo's, yellowfin, macks, kingies, etc. Doesnt miss a beat anytime! Dont know how it would go with a big beak on the end of it! Hopefully our next beak hits our 50 or similar!
Cheers Scrub
