Could someone please tell me the pros and cons of using Braid rather than Fireline?

Braid is alot softer and smoother than fireline
Doesnt tend to knot up as easy as fireline sometimes can when it comes off the spool
Doesnt feel as wirey as fireline does in the early stages

I like fireline. It seems to be more durable, stronger and after some use it does soften up nicely. I have used 6lb, 10, 12 and now 30 and I like it.

My partner used 12lb in the surf on a cheap egg beater and it was great. It never wore out and she caught fish after fish after.....

I would recommend using fireline under 10lb on spinning reels, but stick to the true braids on baitcasters for anything over that size line. I prefer Fins and Platil. Fireline over 10lb does not appear to cast as well as the true braids.

Fins Braid and nothing else. "Skin" the Braid first, when loading the spool by wrapping it around the edges of an eye close to the tail end of the rod.

CQ I have some I was going to spool up on saturday, could you explain what "skin" means? and also by wraping it will it heat up or polish anything?. Any extra info on this method would be great.
