Spooling Reels

Hello,

I was just wondering If I were to spool two reels one with 4lb fireline and one with 6lb fireline, what type of backing line should i use ie brands, lb's. Both reels are in the 2000 size and both will be used for SP's.

get a 300 yard spool of 6lb platypus. this should be ample for backing for both the 6lb and 4lb.

I have a different view on backing than most. I go heavier on the backing on the basis that if I ever get to it, I don't want it to break. As braid is about double strength of mono, I would go with what Jeremy said, but only up it to about 12lb.
