I think there great rods at a reasonable price,i also have a live fibre and a new texilum rods , the silstar rod have performed beautifully for me over the years,i have only just got the texilum rod so i haven't had a chance to really test it out yet,you could buy two crystal tips for the price of one of the others.two of the silstar rods are 8 foot 6 to 8 kilo stick and have handled everything i have thrown at them in reasonably shallow water.snapper, jew mackeral etc :)

I prefer Ian Miller designed rod as they have great feel & action to them & you know that you can always rely on them..

IMHO they are equal to if not better than the Ugly Stik I have 3 Crystal and 1 Power Tip and all are great rods. Easy on the budget as well 8-)

different views than the UK - no one wants to use a silstar rod over here ! just not up to the spec of others in the freshwater market ! maybe they have just hit the market half heartedly over here ??

i have heard they are good, nice and strong with a responsive tip, a few of my mates up north use them spinning for macs etc ad i am looking at getting a 5'6 baitcaster for my new abu reel as they are a good price.

Had a brilliant custom 4/6 kg O/H built on a Crystal Tip blank a few years ago. Was as good as anything going around at that time. Then some ahole stole it. >:(
Have found it hard to find something to match it since. Excellent blanks for a budget price.

Great performing rods at a great price. My first genuine "bream stick" was a 6' 2 piece silstar. Still going strong to this day and it hasn't exactly been babied....

Have had a power tip bream rod for 10years, still going!
Great value.
The Crystal Powertips are very nice rods for the price, don't own one YET, however! ;), but on the wish list.
Cheers.

Ahh, Silstar. All my mates rods are Silstar's - great rods for value. Strong, tough and durable. But they dont have the feel and right action as other rods, they just arnt responsive enough. Ive fished with them on a few trips (Cant remember the model...) and was half hearted about them. But for the price you cant lose...

I have quite a few silstars, a 10kg offshore rod, a 6' light estuary, plus a few overheads and love em, they take a beating and bounce back, some of my mates reckon they are too flexi (the 6' in particular), but I love a sensitive tip section. As for feel I don't have a problem feeling even small touches while using braid on em.

(the rod's even better value after winning me $100 in the local comp for this one)
