Could you please think about the following question and post a reply, all going well the info will be of benefit to a lot of us in the longer term. Really don't like being cryptic like this but hopefully I'll be able to explain more fully later on. Thanks for your shared info in advance.
Cheers

"What are the three jighead weight/hook size combinations that you use the most for your soft plastic forays. It even helps to ask if you could only carry 3 types what would they be?"
If you could note if you're thinking fresh, estaurary/inshore or offshore that would help.

Whats the target species ? weather conditions ? water clarity? Its more like the feeling on the day ,most importantky be confident with your choice and believe that it will work

Cheers Dave,
I know it's hard to generalise this much but I appreciate the feedback.

To be honest, I have no idea what size hook or weight is I'm using by number like 1/8 or 3/8 or whatever, I choose by feel and don't really pay attention to the numbers. I know this isn't very helpful in a quantitative sense but I don't doubt there'll be other fishos who do it the same way.

most of my plastics work is estuary and so my selection would be -
jig heads, I use bassmaster jig heads with Mustad Aberdeen Black Nickel Chemically sharpened hooks.
weight wise I would chose 1/32, 1/16th and 1/8th heads and a #1 to 1/0 hook.
Plastics, I use 90% GULPS, 3 favs are -
4" Minnows in smelt
4" swim mullet in Watermelon
3" Minnows in pumpkinseed

Thanks Karl ;)
fishing for Bream, canals- pontoons, boats, bridges and natural structure, TT jig heads in 1/40, 1/28 (both hidden weight) and 1/20, size 1 heavy wire hooks, plastics used in order, 3 inch gulp fry, pumpkinseed, 3 inch bass minnow, pearl watermelon, and 2 inch gulp shrimp, any colour. The 1/20th is only used around bridges with a lot of run.
fishing for bream, deep or fast current places, Again TT jig heads in size 1 heavy wire, 1/16, 1/12 and 1/8, with the 1/12 my go to. Plastics, 2 inch gulp shrimp, nuclear chicken, 3 inch gulp crawfish, pumpkinseed green flec and 4 inch gulp turtleback worm, pumpkinseed.
Even tho I stated this is what I use chasing bream I also pick up most other species available around the Gold Coast area.
Cheers Ian

if i could only pick 3 jig heads then i'd only be fishing for a single species or in a single location. As you can see i have listed 9 different jig heads that I regard as must haves (ie i always have some of) but my tackle trays hold probably 20 plus different jig heads.
Snapper/squire 1/0 VMC worm hook with 1/16-1/4oz bullet for 4"tick baits and 4/0 VMC worm hook for the 5" stuff

Lol i will keep :-X good idea about getting info like this mate ;) mine are as follows..
TT
1/20th 1/0
1/20th 4
1/16th 1/0
1/12th 1/0
1/12th 4
1/8th 1/0

1/16th 1/0
1/8th 1/0
1/8th 4/0
I make a few from sinker mould jigheads myself and when i do I use the Mustard aberdine hooks. you can find these at most tackle shops, I have had problems finding other brands of blank 90deg aberdine hooks... (locals don't tend to stock them??).
Cheers and good luck!!

Hi everyone, my name is Dan, and I'm a placcieholic.... ;D
All TT Jigheads:-
1/8Oz 2/0 - 3/0
1/16Oz #2 - 1/0
1/40Oz #2 - #1
That's the 3 I would probably go for if I could only get 3

TT jigheads or glow jig heads for flattys.
1/4 to 1/8 in estuarys with current. 1/16 in canals with no current.
1-1.5 oz in the seaway for deep water and current.
Can you tell I dont target bream? ha ha.

Let me see....
Squidgy round heads 2.0g/#4
I use these size heads in fast flowing current in 2-5m water mainly off bridges matched up with Manns 3" curlytail grubs in any colour, Berkley Micro's any colour and 2" atomic fat grubs in brown crawdad lumo.
Squidgy finesse resin heads 4# hook.
I use these in snaggy areas (rock walls and bankside fallen trees with minimal current) matched with 3" berkley powerbaits and 3.5" atomic jek minnows in natural colours.
I use squidgy heads because they are cheap and have fine gauge wire for easy hook penetration. They also hold the sp in place well due to the wire insertion. I get frustrated when i go through a pack of $7 TT's in a few hours but they are quite good aswell.
Pete.

I use mainly Lunker Grip jigheads from Lunker City. Most of my plastics is estuary and I use 1/32 and 1/16 (depending on tidal run) with a No 1 hook. If I am specifically targetting lizards I use 1/4 on a 2/0. Various plastics - gulps and bass minnows and at the moment I am experimenting with Mud Dogs and Helgies.
