Shimano TCurve for Barra fishing

I am interested in opinions on the Shimano TCurve rod for barra fishing, especially how well these rod cast lures. The rod I am looking at is the Tournament Barra Baitcast 6' rated 6-10kg. Sundown have them on sale at the show for approx. $160.

I bought one a few months back but have not used it on Barra etc yet. It does cast very well including lighter Jack style lures. I was really impressed with its overall ease of use for a 10kg rod.

I have a TCurve setup with a shimano Calais, beautiful rod to use. I'm casting lures like a pro now ::) BEAUTIFUL reel to use as well, couldn't of balanced them up any better if I tried. Personally, to me they are a bloody good rod whatever your use for them.

I also purchased a 6 - 10kg Shimano TCurve early in the year and took it to Feter Faust with me in March.
Strapped my Dawia Millionaire CV-Z253A to it and gave it a run and was very pleased with it.
I found it a set up that i could cast with for hours with ease and although i only caught two Barra on it, 82cm's and 117cm's the rod handled the fish easily.

I also have two other TCurves 2-5kg. spin sticks for soft plastics, they also have handled some rather big fish with ease.

Have heard a new model of TCurve will be out soon but i have been told that it may be a lot more expensive than the current TCurves.

G'Day, What you say is correct, a Loomis is a top stick but you should realse that some people can't afford to lay out around $480.

Today there are quite a few rods available that work very well, for instance i walked into Sundown a few weeks ago and the guys there know i chase the barra. One of them come and have a look at these, they were a new release by Penn, around $120, Penn Pin Point or somethimg like that, i grabbed the butt end he grabbed the other and i almost liffed him off the floor (10kg) model, it appeared to have a lot of power. I have a Daiwa Heartland 12 to 17 lb that i got off Lindsay a couple of years ago when i was looking for a second stick to replace one that a mate stood on. It has worked well for me when i have used it, barra to 117cm's in the sticks, has the power to turn a fish.

So really there are alternatives when you haven't got a great wad cash to spend.

Obiviously there is no substitute for quality, personally i use two Daiwa Millionaires and a Penn 955 as baitcasters on the barra and i have two Shimano Stella's for plastics fishing.

Thanks for all the replies! I ended up buying a Tcurve from the Sundown marine stand at the show. I would have like to have upgraded to a GLoomis but the budget didn't stretch that far. Still happy with my purchase and hoping to connect to a few barra in Sept.

I have the raider barra Mag 6-10 kg matched with a curado 200BSF that i just got back from jack erskine. cast pretty good before but alot better now.
i think the t curve wont give you any dramas but if you want to save 50-60 bucks have a look at the raider!

I have a 6 to10kg t curve and it is great just priced the new Tcurves and they are $450 dollars makes a loomis look cheap cheers billy

i recently bought a tcurve 400 deep jig rod very impressed also has a shimano spheros 14000 great rod any reel recomened any day

Another good stick to try if you have the $$$$$, from memory they are in the $400 bracket and a good range is available, is the Egrell.

Apparently there have been a few problems in the past, but let me assure you no problems with the rods, from what i hear they are very very good.

Saw an advert in the latest QFM, so i imagine they are up and running now and maybe more accessable?

I wouldn't go past an Egrell.They are top notch now being built with amtac titanium silicon guides.These equal fuji anyday.
