a 4000 saltiga weighs 570g v 380g for a certate. is there much size difference?
reason i ask is that i've found a saltiga for about the same price as a certate, to run on a spin stick for fishing plastics for barra, and wondered if the size of the saltiga might be an issue.
thanks

Saltiga is designed for offshore works while Certate is designed for inshore/freswater works , pretty much the same as Stella 4000FA
and Stella 4000FB .

personally i think the saltiga is too big physcially and overkill for barra. The certate is a gem, and is more than a match for the largest of barra.
Either way, i would stick both reels onto the rod your using and feel the balance. Im pretty sure you will have answered your own question once you do this.

I use a Certate 2500 custom loaded with 14lb braid and mated to a loomis sjr 783 8-15lb fast action rod for my plastic throwing addiction..Plenty of grunt for Barra, queenies, trevs, tuna etc...Saltiga is a bit of an overkill for plastic tossing IMO.....

Hey Fish Smith,
Basicly what I am setting up, but I have an 8-12 bronze back.
I must say, I have not had a more suited set up.
All I have to do now is wait for the certate to come in

Certate here too - works a treat for Barra through to Trevally/Tuna/Snapper on plastics etc
Mine's a Certate 4000 spooled with 20lb Fireline on a Nitro Magnum Butt
