Hi, Does anyone know the max drag on the Calais 200 ASV? Would it be suitable for chasing impoundment barra?

If this reel is the equivalent of ANTARES AR , the max. drag is advertised as 4.5 kg . International brochures do not state any drag figures but Japanese brochure does .

Hi fish_crazy, I just had a look at the instructions that came with my 200ASV and I can't find anything about a max or min drag setting ::). My wife would say that I had a mans look though ::) ;D. Looked on the shimano website and couldn't find anything on there either, sorry. I don't think you would have any probs with chasing barras. BLOODY nice reel to use, would advise anyone who uses a low-profile baitcaster to have a fish with one, I know I won't use anything else. Let a mate use mine the first time I broke the girl in, and now he's saving up to buy one as well ;D ;D. Took me a while to save up for it, but am glad that I did. Good luck with it all mate. CHEERS woody

What are the pros and cons of the calais versus a 200te, or 200te dc? I guess the latter is dearer, but how about performance, castability etc.

Regards,
Dave.

Thanks for the info Jonli & woody74. The reel is actually an Antares. I thought the closest reel on our market would be the Calais. Am going to hit the Awoonga barra in 2 weeks. Will let you know how it holds up.

Daiwa HRF?

Mind you, my Kmart brand 8 ball bearing 4000 size threadline just produced 5.5kg on the scales. On 10lb TD sensor braid. Maybe the scales are dodgy :o
