I am thinking of stripping the old braid off my reel soon and was contemplating giving the bionic braid a go as the info I have been reading about it seems to give it a good wrap but who better to ask than the people using it? If anyone can give me some feedback on it that would be much appreciated. How does it really stack up?

I agree with troy. The braid itself seems fine but the die they use in the colour dissappears after a cpl of trips

I think I read on Harro's site that there is a new dye process being used, on the latest production the colour is not the same I think a magenta colour and is supposed to hold the colour better.

Yeah use 50lb for lure work. Yes its colour fades away quickly but can be seen in the water quite well still. Strong, thin, knots are excellent etc etc

Depends what size. The heavier stuff is good but it isn't as well made in the lighter braids as some of the others. I would say anything under 20pounds and go something else.

I've found the 12lb to be excellent. It is actually thinner than their 8lb :o.For me it has been one of,If not the best braid I've used in the lighter end.....Limp,Awsome to knot,And extremely strong.Very fine for 12lb,And probably rated more along the lines of it's true breaking strain than most other braids.
Keep ya cash Down Under ;)
hey mate
my mate uses bionic but as every one has said it loses its colour pritty fast but i recon the fins braid is a better way to go i use it 20lb and i recon it is unreal stuff hope this helps
cheers

Poodroo, got a calcutta 200b spooled up with 50lb bionic, and cant complain.
Nice soft line that casts well, all though I had a little bit of trouble with my allbright knots, but I think that was me, not the braid.
Only down side I think is that it seems a thicker line than others for its breaking strain.
only my experience, others might think different
cheers

It's good line... Strong, durable and knots well...
However, it leaves a pink residue everywhere...
As bearclaw mentioned... They might be introducing a new colour process or product.

I checked out most of the usual braids in 10kg a few weeks ago. I ended up with Fins. It certainly looked a lot thinner and seems to knot realy well

Thanks fellas for the replies. As I stated earlier there is none better to ask about a product than those who are using it. I might wait and see if the new dying technique products hit the market before I give it a go. Regards,

Have you looked at Fins Braid.....I can`t go past it....i`ve tried other and the Fins seem to last the longest for bottom bashing..

Not as yet snelly but I will definitely look into it as an option though. Thanks for mentioning it. Once upon a time in my limited way of thinking towards fishing gear I'd have gone for the cheapest nastiest braid and fishing gear but have wisened up somewhat and now realize durability and longivity is something you only get with the quality gear.

Yeah Poodroo...I can relate to that...I once purchased any brand...mainly the cheaper one`s and without naming them ....some of them are really crap >:( >:( >:(
So now i only use Fins.....maybe a little bit dearer but in the long run its cheaper because your ;) not replacing/ or braking of crappy line..
Or taking the chance of loosing the fish of a life time.. :)

Bionic was the first braid I used and it not bad but after trying a few differnt brands i reckon you can't go past Fins PRT or Stren for overheads as they both hold there colur and don't fluff up.

Yes it sounds like Fins is going to be the one. Now the big question. Is it available through most normal Tackle Stores?
