First off, I have been using baitcasters for many years now so am proficient in casting them, though you can always learn more and get better.
When casting 7g spinnerbaits I find I get about a 5m decrease in casting distance compared to a 10g spinnerbait. I am casting with a Daiwa CVX 103a and a SFS spinnerbait rod, 8lb platypus braid.
My questions is, will getting a new reel make up the distance decrease in using the lighter weight or, is it simple that everyone out there gets a significant decrease in distance casting 1/4oz with baitcasters? I am casting from shore 90% of the time and I prefer my baitcaster over threadline(already got one and use it for anything below 7g) as I regularly use heavier lures aswell.
