penn 330 or okuma titus 30

Hey guys, I know everyone will say "...get a TLD..." :) but "if" you were to choose between the below 2 reels, which would you choose and why? Use would be trolling, live baiting.

- Penn 330Gti
- Okuma Titus 30 (or 20)

I'd go the Penn...well I've got 4 330gti's, and 2 okuma titus 50's...the Okuma is a great looking reel but I've yet to really stretch it...I've heard the drags can buckle under pressure though.

The 330 GTI's are just pure tough reels, well built...never say die drag...I've flogged one of mine to death over the past 8 years and it still comes back for more which is why I bought the other three. Penn have released a new lever drag 330 lookalike...cant remember what its called but its a good looking thing and maybe worth considering in the mix particulalry for live baiting...I use a lever drag Penn GLS45 for that purpose...love it!

I've also got 2 tld 25's but they feel mickey mouse with a standard handle in my opinion...Foxy uses a tld with a tyrnos handle and that seems to do the trick for him, but thats another $40.00 on top. You'll probably see mine in the for sale section next time I do a tackle round up

I'm sure others will add their opinion but when its all been said and done, I'd stick with the Penn...

I have a penn 330gti

I have fished moreton bay, hervey bay, outside with it.

Trolling bottom bashing everything. Havent been able to kill it yet. ;D

I would buy another of them no worries. No frills tough reel that does the job.

i have the titus 20.

its busted.

after having it for about 2 years.
the cog inside on the other side of the spool badly corroded and had seized.
it surpirsed me cause i had taken such good care of it the whole time i had it.

but i wont buy one again.

but i have heard good reports about the titus Gold 20's. ive seen one personally jigging and it went off!

Go the 330 penn, had mine for a while now, never had a problem

Ive got both these reels, but rarely use either anymore. If I had to choose for trolling it would be the Okuma for the level drag. The Penn will last a little longer, but the Okuma is more fit for the pupose you have suggested

Go the Penn, I haven't been able to kill mine, heard very bad things about Okumas giving up after not too much ruff stuff. The Penn goes well with the Penn mariner rod with roller tip, have pulled up 4 m sharks with mine with 52lb mono line(also Penn 10x)
