Have just spooled my first TSS-4 then l went onto the next and low and behold The reel holds more then expected as platypus platinum is thinner the shimano allowed for line of that class. :-[ :-[ What is a safe distance back onto the reel to make the join (I think needs about 100m to top it up to about 2 mm from the lip of the spool) :-/ and what sort of knot do you good folks suggest. I am thinking uni to uni would do it. If I need to I will end for end the whole lot once the reel is topped up. Mostly for bay pelagic's or off the beach for tailor is the intended purpose.

Hi mate,,,,,,,, I would wind all the line off on to a nother reel,,, and then put backing on your ts then wind it all back on again :-[ ;)... I use a Albright Knot...
I have had 250m + in the water off the beach and the last thing i would want to see is a joining knot go up the rod ;D

I thought I would need to end for end it once I had the spool full :'( but worth it if the knot inst exposed ::)
