my prefered outfit would be a stradic 6000 on a gary hoawrd moreton bay spin stick 6-8kg
loaded with 6kg (300m) mono its superb
most people don;t want to spend the money i do so any of these would do
okuma force 80 or epix 80 if you want to pay and extra $50 for an extra 5 bearings sitting on a 7'6 penn powerstick 6-10kg = BEAUTIFUL loaded with 8kg mono (500m)
other options is the tss4 loaded with 6kg mono (500m) sitting on a life fibre 8ft 8-10kg stick
my thoughts are the force is better than the tss4, life time warranty, faster retrieval rate, SMOOTHER, metal spool verse plastic spool
hope it helps

(mono is sufficent in my opinion braid is not necassary for the high speed spinning

i think a 10-12lb outfit will provide quite unforgetable experience when fishing these fast swimming fish. a 1.8m 6-12lb fast action rod and a 2000reel will do. best using suspension crankbaits as they may bring u some big fish.

go and talk to the boys at the Boatshed Bait and Tackle at Currumbin just over the creek from the boat ramp.

I use a stradic 4000 matched to an ian miller snapper raider running 10lpb fireline.. So much fun to use and you can use it all day. Have caught spotties to 6.5kg. Although at times I have been a little nervous as the line disappeared from the 4000 and was silently wishing I had brought the 6000.

Sustain 4000 spool with 12lb fused line on a 8' shim. backbone elite 2-4kg, very light outfit let you swing all day and will pull up most things in the bay.
Back up rod is fitted with a sustain 6000 heavier fused line on a 7' B.E. 6-10 kgs, if this doesn't pull them up, it's time to go home.
