Hey ausfishers!

I'm looking for a light baitcaster combo, I'll mainly be targeting bass, bream and other estuarine fish and about $200 is all I've got to spend. I was thinking maybe a Pflueger Echelon and one of the light Raider rods from shimano. However, I'm open to any suggestions.

Any recommedations would be greatly appreciated! :)

Cheers, Tim

Tim - I have recently bought a Shimano Corvalus 200 (barrel style baitcaster) and a Shimano Taipan Extreme 3-4kg rod, with 25pound braid for $180 at my local tackle store.

I have since replaced the rod with a stiffer Silstar Crystal Blue 8-10kg, $25 from cash converters. The original rod was just too whippy for me, I like to feel the exacting control if the stiffer graphite rod. Bonus was that the Silstar was in perfect condition.

I have since seen the Corvalus for $89 plus postage from an online e-bay store, and there aer a few decent sales on rods at the moment.

For under $200 you should pick up a fairly decent combo.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
