quick Bundy round up

Hi,
just a quick one,the area is fishing well at the moment,jacks up the creeks as well as Queenfish - Trevally - Whiting - Lizards - Grunter and Bream all biteing well on the soft plastics,some Bigger Queenfish are streaching the light spin gear to the limit.

most of the Queenies are in the class in the pic attached.
i was amazed at how much the Whiting hit the softies with some decent fish being boated.

outside Spottie mackrell are around in good numbers with the higher consertration on the schools being north of the spit at the mouth of the burnett,there are some good longtail Tuna around as well.

around the 4 mile and artifical reefs, small Black marlin are starting to make an appearance,and along the rocks along the frount schools odf Queenfish - trevally and of couse spottie macks.

Roonies mate, not to mention the amount of free jumping fish that are seen off the arty at Elliott heads each year. ;)

i am a bit slow on the uptake with the Grunter,am heading off again tommorow to have a look for them again,i'll take time to snap a couple of pic's instead of getting straight back in ther,but thay go hard, i am rapt.

i'm with you on the grunter being king of the estuary a jack will knuckle down to get to its snag but it don't go the hold hog like the grunter does out in the open i use to catch them at the dry dock in cairns and i would always be rubbing my hands together at the thought of a grunter over 5lb had a mate get on in the brissy river 5kg on a franger on 4lb fireline which in my mind makes the difference between the "rec angler" and the meat gather!
roonies is a 100km odd from urangan and i wouldn't eat no macks from that area even if its out of the platapus bay! ciggyterror is a bad deal! jeffo is in one of the two best ports in qld for catching billys with it being a toss up between goldy and sunny for the quickest billy from port(not the biggest!). however if i could click my fingers and be at the old lightship site i would do it ever trip! i could pop gold spots all day for me they are the supreme sportfish! hope u get into the grunter tomorrow brett and happy 2004 to all the bundy boys and may it be free of civil action!(boys- is a generic term that includes women,ladys and girls.in no way was the term used as a sexist remark!)

damon.... mooloolaba is a great spot to live, but of late the fishing has been unseasonally slow. ahh well. maybe a late run of both bills and spotties? heres hoping

jeffo' i'm always towing the boat up there, i love how close the reef fish are to the port but yeah mate it seems like both mooloolaba and the trench area are only a shadow of there former selves when it comes to pelargic fish! high time something was done to stop the longline maddness! they reduced the bag limit on snapper but i had no trouble catching good snapper out of mooloolaba-what about the fish that was bringing the most dollars by way of tourism to the area-the sailfish and the port renown for the largest and most plentiful! now they seem to swim past the area once a year!
i suppose we should look on the bright side at lest they are looking into it now! damon

moved to bargara a few months ago havnt done that much fishing ,only seem to catch all the basic species do you need a another fishing partner . ;D

brett if l come up there again this year can you do somthing to keep the bream in the river , l think you need a media blackout obviously the bream got word the morgans and the metcalfs were coming and headed south .
let me know if the bream wont cooperate l will get the gold coast boys to bring up to bundy in our live wells :P ;D

just at the mouth of the river mate,that island on the southen side,the bottom end has a rock point that heads out to sea,on the high tide (with no swell running) we get right in on the rocks and target queenies and trevally.
Spike,
Mike M and i fished the system a few times in the month prior to the comp (similer tides) and rolled a LOT of very good fish,with 5 fish bags 3kg and up the norm.
