Hi all
St helens charter
Left 6.30, first albacore at 10.30, lotsa bait and even more lure changes, The strike was taken alpherbetical. 25 albacore by 2.30pm and we started to head back from the shelf. young fella on strike and the first of 2 striped marlin threw the hook within 2 minutes. 3 of the five on the charter give it away and went to sleep. within 4km of being home with only 2 high speed heads out the back, i was on the flybridge and throught i seen a marlin surfin the lures about 70m out back, i get down from the flybridge and walk over to the rod and then we are on, a quick 200m of line peels off, gain a bit, loose a bit more gain a bit. By this time all are awake from sceamin reel and the young fella whio dropped the first one come over and said "MY FISH", well bugger me I thought if he had been asleep, he had given it away. But me being a bloody nice or extremely stupid, passed the rod over, he let the pressure off the fish, the fish charged toward the boat and he has slack line every where and the fish finally throughs the hook. LESSON LEARNY, Never ever pass a rod over ever again, if thew go to sleep stiff sh.., no more nice guy
good trip any way, 25 albacore to about 6kg is a good day anyway
cheers

Sounds like a good charter there Blaze......Mate you will be eating tuna for a month..lol
Some say they are the best tuna to eat...white flesh is this correct?
How long does it take to reach the shelf?
Pity you gave away a marlin mate.......That person had a chance and to me you miss out on another if ya go to sleep.
Kindness is a curse sometimes.
Nice hot weather up here mate and i had to work this weekend :'( :'( but not for the next 3 weekends..ye ha.
Cheers Brent :D

Hi Brent
Mate , was a top day, got home and dropped the skin off the last few fillets, white flesh, good on the barbie, lemon juice/lime juice wrapped in foil in the oven, give most of the fillets away, put a couple in the freezer (dont normally freeze fish)
cheers

Good stuff blaze, What day did you go out? Sat? and which charter? I got my first Marlin this time last year and was stoked. I went out Sat and we didn't get to the shelf (to rough for my missus) the only action was getting chopped up by some couta!

Cheers Fishtale

i tell you mate ya kindness will be your downfall like brent said, if that guy came over i would have told him to go f**k himself if you go to sleep then you automatically forego your right to any fish that happens to hook up on that particaular rod, i mean shit it aint his rod or it would be different. Well you know for future eh? ;D
cheers mate
