BAY TRIP (SUNDAY)

G/day all just a quick report on my trip to tangas, left whyte about 5.00 am,a slight breeze over our shoulders all good, that was untill we got as far as the last lead to the river the slight breeze was now about 15 to 20 knts of s/s/w(so much for the 5 to 10 thnx bom ! Decided not worth the sore arse to get to beacons so went back inside mud anchored on a nice ledge and got fish from the first bait down. Lots of under sized squire, sweet lip, kept a couple of the better fish for crew also landed a fish that we could not name so will post a photo and will see what you guys come up with im guessing maybe a hussar ! but thats just a wild one ! All in all lots of fish ,its really good to see so many fish in a small area even if they were mostly undersize makes the future of our bay look good !

Not 100% sure but that looks like a slate bream (blackall or painted blubber lips) to me.....Ive caught them around green before.......the flesh is not the best ive eaten.

Ray - Youre right that it was a lumpy as hell early this morning. Glassed out around 11am though and turned into a Beautiful Day.

Hi Ray Bloody morwong, the bays full of them at times.
They even named a beach after them top of ccoochie.
Rainbow ch and Harrys are full of them at time, come in a varity of colours, best thing for them is bait, they have a real flourery taste, as matter a fact they taste like shit.
Good fu n as they usually fisht pretty hard.

yes i got one other week. meat real bloody,didnt know what it was, kept it for eats or bait as didnt have much in freezer at that stage.will eat sweetlip and use that for bait since finding this out.

Anyway Ray. Sunday was perfect in the southern bay. I left Raby bay at 4.30am and went wot all the way to the Rainbow channel. Never even looked like getting above 5 knots.

Found Touchy & Jonno feeding fish at Sth west rocks later in the morning. By the way Jonno :P, told ya could throw a cast net ! Hope those hardyheads done the trick ?

Well Ray, don't worry about eating that Morwong. ( by the way, they come under the new regs and you should have cut the Pectrol fin off ) which I'm sure you did ! FFS, what sort of law is that one ?

When ya catch a Morwong, bleed them straight away, place in ice slurry and cook them as soon as you get home. Fillet, skin, remove blood line and de-bone, cut into finger size pieces and crumb, deep fry and dip into Sweet Chilli Sauce. Bloody fantastic !

:P Mother-in-law fish or not. They are still good chewing when looked after and cooked fresh. :P

Yeah Phill I've eaten quite a few, wasn't going to say anything though ;) you get some absolute snodgers around peel and green at times, seen them 4kg + . How'd you go anyway, take it you were after parrot?
