Hey fellas, ( and gals ;) ),
Myself and a new deckie went to Mud Friday arvo. Left Whyte Island ramp at 5pm. Met 4 young fellas there that had been paddling their 3.9meter tinnie for 45minutes. Ran out of fuel not far from ramp , but ! They said they saw a 5mtr Plate C/C heading out of the river with 3 on board.
That boat was carrying Peterbo3, Webby and Allnighter.
The Skanky, looking a tad small heading into the 20knot S/Er and 1+ mtrs of swell towards Mud Island. Was a slow and wet trip. ( now I know what some of ya's are thinking ! 4 mtr tinnie in Moreton Bay in 20knots and big swells, well you are right, only Mad dogs and Englishmen should attempt this ::) ;). I am neither, so Don't try this at Home ;D ).
Found a sheltered spot on the west side and anchored in 6ft. The bloody wind was still causing a ripple on the water. The Bream there don't like that. Ah well !
My new deckie was first up. matter of fact he donged the first 4. Sweetie, Squire, Flathead and Bream. I came back strongly with a nice 33cm Bream. That was our target species for this trip. Just getting in a little practice for the onset of winter and the run of bigger fish.
Got Webby on the mobile, they were nth of us in shallow and sandcrabs were coming aboard ??????.
The mozzies arrived on cue, but the Home Brew soon had them sorted. deckie ( Brad ) was still bringing in fish, leaving me in his wake. He managed a Grinner just before a 3kg Cattie got me. Time to move.
Only moved 30 mtrs and more squire. I was fishing shallow and Brad was in 7ft +.
Webby again, and he's bringing in snappery squire. But his crew are falling behind. ( I'll let Peter fill you's in there ).
At high tide I moved into the deep stuff ( 3ft ) and soon after the Ausfish boys joined us. Wouldn't you know it, just as they are approaching, I drop a ripper Bream at the boat. Bugga !.
Time to head back with the out tide starting to flow. Shoot, still blowin a gale. It was a quicker trip home than coming out, with the wind at our Port Stern Corner and the Swell from the same. Lots of Surfing, ( some unintentional ).
Good results for a mid-season sortie.
Made some slugs this morning. check out ' Test Board '.
Cheers Phillie with the wind up him ! ;)
