Well after waiting so long for some decent weather to give the new boat a good run offshore, Sunday finally saw us heading out for a quick trip to my new little spot not to far from home. Headed out the Boyne about 9:30am and opened her up for a great run straight to the mark, only blowing about 5knots with a nice easy rolling swell. Got to the mark in about 30 mins and sounder was well in truely alive. Within 1 minute I bought aboard my first ever coral trout, no monster but a nice size. Than a double hook up of a parrot and a spangled emperor. It wasn't long after this that whilst Terry was pulling the livey we noticed at least 6 spanish macs following it in. But no matter what we did they would not take it. Then tried floating out a pilly. Within a couple of minutes the TLD came alive. After a short fight and a bit of dancing around the boat the first one was aboard. 13kg Spanish Mac, not lonf after the second at 10 kg and then I couldn't believe it, Had a new bloke on board who had never been offshore before. He hooks up to something big on the bottom using a patanoster rig with 80lbs trace and he land another 10kg Spanish mac. The rest of the day was filled in with more parrot, sweetlip, saddle tale sea perch and a juevenile red emperor.
With one very happy crew we headed back in and back at the ramp by 1:30pm. Not bad for a mornings fishing I thought.
Cheers,
Jamie

Well done Jamie, nice way to blood the new rig.
Sounds like your own spot x is close to mine lol.
Spaniards off the bottom, whilst not common do happen especially in under 20M.
We caught 2 one night whilst anchored up behind Masthead on standard bottom rigs.
They hit us around midnight and really were a blessing amongst the Mother in law fish.
Maybe they were hiding from the wind like us.
Congrats again mate.
Cheers,
Rich.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
CQ Fisher, I've got a 225 Merc Optimax on her and I have to say it performes extremely well using only about 18ltrs per hour.
And yes the Bajcraft is one very fine boat with an outstanding ride.
Cheers,
Jamie ;D :D ;)
