howdy all

did a couple of solo trips this week chasing LT off bribie.id heard there were a few around while i was away so decided to go and punish my gear.first trip out was tuesday which was glassy, the front beach was very quiet,no birds ,no bait ::).so i headed out wider to look for anything promising.eventually i ended up in the trench and found a good bait school in 120ft covering the bottom 40ft of water.i slow trolled 1 slimie at 70ft over the bait school and one on top{to catch the fish that come up for a breath ;)}.after prolly 1hr the top line went off with a healthy run that had me lookin at the bottom of my 950 penn spool.the next 1hr 20 min had me driving slowly north south east and west, swearing at the fish, asking myself why i always do this, and asking myself why i always ask myself why i do this whenever i do it ::).the other things i asked myself were, why didnt i roll a smoke just in case, and who the hell is that that keeps trying to ring me.anyway after 1hr 20 on 15kg a very impressive LT was doing donuts under the boat.now im not gonna guess its weight cause i released it and didnt even try to lift it in the boat, but ive weighed a few in the twenties and this was the best one ive caught.i did try the mackmauler ,team mongo thing and take a pic with my third hand but the fish must have been distorted by the water and i now have a pic that looks like a cross between a barra and the elephant man ???

nexttrip was friday morn in the SW wind,a 20 min troll around a bait school in the shipping channell had me hooked up on another LT this one was a more average bribie fish and the fight came to a rapid finish when the fish got tail wrapped.he too .was released after a happy snap.after that i came in close and checked the front beach for action.i found heaps of bait holding in the usuall tuna spots but no tuna.so its just a matter of time.

hey jeffo

slimies ,yakkas, and full strings of chopper tailor, you would reccon some good things would have to be lurking around with that on offer.

wes
yea seems to be some big loners hanging round at the moment.took a mate to caloundra last week and he dropped one that nearly spooled the 950 as well.which dosent happen to often and you know its a good fish when it does.im thinkin it was nearly this time last year we were all out there.

ha ha,my brother in law just got a new cruise craft outsider with all the bells and whistles and a downrigger[CAUSE I SAID I WOULDNT GO OUT WITH HIM UNLESS IT DID}anyway ive named it ''SHOWPONY''dam things even got seats in it,i told him if hes got time to sit on his arse he should move.hahaha.

cheers scott
