NEEDED to get out for a fish, so I snuck out to River Heads yesterday to throw some lures and put the pots in (too windy to go outside)

Only got 1 legal muddie, although found where to put my crab pots next time ;) Caught a nice flathead (52cm), and a few small tailor - we came accross the tailor on the way back to the ramp, there were plenty of birds working so we just had to stop and cast a few slugs at them. Also saw a large Bluefin jump near the boat. Hooked onto a small Barra near a mangrove Island at the mouth of the Mary.

All up it turned out a great day, and I plan to get a few more trips in at River Heads over the coming weeks (in between preparing for my trip to Fraser next month)

Sounds like you had a good day Tony

Will be getting the boat wet tomorrow, might even give river heads a go.

I always enjoy a day out down there Mark. It find it a nice change, and usually focus more on relaxing than I do offshore 8) I might not catch as many fish, but hey - it's very hard to beat on a windy day :)

Besides, I usually manage to bring home a nice fish or two and get a chance to try a few different lures out

Have you been up towards Burrum Heads at all?? Or heard any reports from around there? We're heading up in a fortnight
Cheers ;)

I haven't fished at Burrum Heads for a while now, although my parents are camped up there with the Van for a few months - I'll have a chat with dad and see what's been happening.

Last I heard was a few weeks ago and they were landing plenty of XOS flathead, and even Queenfish right at the boatramp!

Dreamdays

The area ajacent to the walkers point boat ramp has been quite productive for tailor, bream and flathead also at the moment
