Went deep sea jigging the breaksea Spit on the Weekend with Damon Olsen.

What a mind blowing experience [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif].

Fished 80-120m of water right on the shelf, and would hook up on unstoppables. Dropped a massive one on 19.5kg of drag which almost pulled me out of the boat ;D ;D.

Heres some that didnt get away.

Great action George, bloody terrific place up there, go up there twice a year with Geoff Taylor (time & tide).
Your right about some unstopables, you want to try jigging on the drop off near the lightship where it drops off into the abyss.
We fish the drop offs with tiagra 80 and 120 dacron and still get blow away.
The whole area is home to some big noah, and other big critters.
Thers a spot up there where you can connect to jacks, and i mean big big jack anywhere from 8-12kg suckers, and some big dog tooth tuna.
I see you manage to at least get a few up, even though some looks like they only just made it ;D

Jeff that spaniard was taken on the troll while we were waiting for the weather to settle. One of the guys got a spanaird on a 4oz soft plastic :o

Snappa, here are some close up photos of some of the jigs. Went through about 10 jigs in 2 days, some were chewed up buy sharks..

Snelly alot of those big jigs use kevlar cord to attache the hooks to the jigs.
dont know how bit proof that is but it seems to be the norm.
