Tried drifting before sun up but current was too strong so anchored in about 140ft for a nice snapper and couple of pearlies.

They went off the bite when the sun came up so we went for a look around. Found some good bottom in about 200ft and drifted with a bit of a slower current.

The wind was starting to get up a little bit by about 10.00am but still wasn't too bad and had me thinking of a slowish trip home. We pulled up parrot and pearl perch on every drop along with undersize red emperor and small gold spots. Had enough for a feed and the fish were pretty stuffed once they reached the surface so left them biting for another day. Had a nice sized yakka out the back that was left untouched.

Wind dropped and we headed for home. By about a third of the way back the swell had dropped off and was able to do about 35 knots the rest of the way in.

Great day on the water with whales everywhere.

Fished the southern end. Deeper water seemed to be the go for us in the end but like I said we had enough for a feed and most of the fish coming up were unreleasable.
