Just got back last night after a week up at Fraser from 13th -20th . My mate and I managed to get our bag limits of 30 Taylor each .
Trip up the beach to Indian Head was good .
Indian was extremly soft & powdery , I was travelling with 5 boats , all got bogged & required help to get through .
The weather was pretty ordinary with a couple of strong wind warnings . First from from the NW this brought in the weed , then S/SW 30-33 knts. .
We were camped at the Waddy Pt beach camping grounds .
Most of the Taylor were being caught in a good deep gutter , north of Waddy Pt & the track to the rangers station .
You wont be able to miss the gutter , we stopped counting at over 100 4wd's parked along the gutter Friday morning .
Some of the fish were OK but most were just your basic chopper's , there were also dart mixed in with them .
We found the best times to fish was just on Dawn & dusk .
They were also getting them in the gutter just north of Waddy Pt , where they launch the boats , then the weed came in making it unfishable . MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FISHING PAST THE CLOSED AREA 500 MTRS NORTH OF WADDY .

Glad to hear you got a few Peter. Sounds like sticking to the beach was the go - Reel Job told me about the misadventures of the boats that went out - that would have been frightening :-X

Cheers,

Mark

Pete,

I'd be interested to hear of the misadventures with the boats. Always good to learn lessons about a place. Sometimes we can take fro granted launching the boat there.

Just got back from 4 days on the southern end of fraser myself. Thursdays weather was very ordinary Friday to Sunday couldn't ask for better. Very few people fishing the southern end, dart and flat head around at all hours but not one tailor landed. Very little weed to be found, not enough to stop fishing an area anyway. Fished banks at Ungowa for zip and the old boat ramp west of hook point where 1 flatie and and a few mini bream were caught. My first visit to this spot, lots of plastic bags, bottles, cans etc. nice water ugly bank.

went fishing around the thirteenth at ngkala rocks, on dawn plenty of chopper and dart were around. when the pillies seemed to be working on the dart, the halco twisties seemed to be working on the chopper. when they were on, there was quite a few tailor, but the locals say that the numbers do seem to be a lot less than previous years.
