Thought i'd write a little report of my first deep sea experience ... I booked Sea Probe charters for the say and we headed out on wat was close to a perfect day ... the sun was up, sky was clear and water was like glass ... we left at 6am and headed out and caught some yakkas ... once we had a dozen the skipper tried to start the engines and only 1 was starting ... wat a great start to the day ... Anyway we headed bak to the bait shop and waited abt 1.5hrs while they changed the starter motor ... then headed back out <we lost 2 hours fishing time, pretty mad about that> ...
Anyway we headed 21miles from the seaway and started fishing ... the skipper put us onto a great spot ... first fish up was a nice pearly ... after about 4 of them we got onto a HUGE cuddlefish, this thing was a monster, the ammount of ink it spat was amazing the water was blak 3m all arnd the boat ... quite a site.
After the cuddlefish we got onto 3 Trag Jew <4-5Kg> a few Mowong <deep sea bream> i think ... some more pearlys ... some pigfish i think he called them then dad landed a nice cod <6.5Kg> ... there was a parrot fish as well ... quite a nice mixed bag ... All up around 27 fish between the 9 of us ...
All u guys out there with boats have it lucky, The only chance i get to catch fish like these is on a charter boat <already booked my next trip> ... might have to make a trip twice a year <as long as i can afford it (im a poor uni student) :P> ...
