Hi folks, took 2 mates out today for a plastics session around the southern bay islands.
Started from Redlands ramp and headed for our first stop the house boat wreck at Peel..
Sloppy conditions there so we headed to the Hanlon light at top of Peel.
2 drifts there yieded nothing so we pressed on up the Rainbow to Myora light.
Arrived right on dead low and started our drift.
One small 30 cm squire hit a zoom 4" watermellon.
Did several more drifts and lost a couple of jigheads on the structure.
Tide stared to bore through the area so it was time to leave.
Tried Cucumber point but no luck there so on to our favourite spot at Wello.
Had a couple of strikes but no hook ups so then decided to hit spit beacon.
Had some big hits there and thought i was on to a decent snapper but after a few minutes fight a giant stingray surfaced.
Disappointment but hey thats fishin for ya..lol
Caught a few more undersize cod, squire and sweetlip before trying a final location at the hole in the wall.
Surf was up around there but we did 3 drifts with 1 hit and bust off...Damn that strong S/E.
2pm pulled the pin and headed for home.
Did a few kilometres on the water for very little results.
Water was a very dirty green colour.
Sure beats working...lol
No pics today couldn't hold to camera still enough...lol
Cheers Brent
