headed out to the bay this morning hoping to find some spotties.we got out there and all you could see were birds diving and fish chopping.had a few casts but nothing. my lure was to big. had a couple of jiggs around one of the markers and picked up a nice schoolie. headed over to the birds for a troll and picked up 4 nice sized schoolies. unfortunately we got now spotties. there was a mass of very large longtails cutting through the bait fish. again lure to big. anyway its good to see the mackeral in large numbers. pics soon

5-6cm for the lure body and a non shiny treble like a vmc is about right, give or take a little.

that's a bit harsh on the old faithful raider! i find the cheap copies pretty good, and they range in size from 10g up! Mind you, I do replace the crap hooks they come with with the vmc's mackmauler mentioned.
I also find the 40g slugs/raiders etc better than the little guys for jigging the beacons - they get to the bottom even if there's a bit of current.
