Did another trip to the bay a lightning raid to find the macks, made easier seeing we knew where they were, once again good numbers of tuna around and some macks though the fishing time was mainly taken up fighting big critters. norm we throw them back but with the sharks getting in on the act close to the boat get em before they do.
Tim was waving the new flyrod without much luck but did connect to a large one yesterday hopefully he'll stop a monster tomorrow, how good is the weather will it ever stop :o

Ben finally stopped this brute, it fell to the trusty mackmauler slug, I was glad the lure stayed together it got tested in a big way LOL
Good on ya ben, those LTs are bloody freight trains. They have been notoriously hard to approach and more so get hookups on of late, did you have much trouble getting hookups on the LT's ?

Rob and Tim, great day out on the water. Unfortunately no cigar for Mr Zeeke on the fly, although a few close calls.
Mr Sharky played havoc with the first LT of the day (around 12kg mark), resulting in half a fish being brought up. Scary thought seeing a tuna of that size with a perfectly clean chomp in half. :o
The big boy....threw a slug into a boil of fish and hooked up within 2 turns of the reel. That set the stage for a 45 minute battle and some blistering runs that should have melted a spool. Finally decked the beast after a few nail biting seconds at the boatside before collapsing on the deck myself. (Pic Rob?) Must also commend Rob on some superb boat handling work. Most likely would have had a tough time landing the fish without. Thanks mate.
Cheers everyone

You guys are pure legends. Particularly Tim. Why anyone in this day and age would bother with chucking flies at metal eating fish is anyones guess. :)

I am definately in the wrong job. Nice fish!
I had better luck Saturday morning using slugs about 100mm in length. I had two sticks rigged up with smaller lures after the spotties.
My old faithful Speedmaster IV was rigged up with the heavier slug. After a while of no luck with the others it was pulled out and BANG! Hook up on first cast. Lost that and 2 others before boating one about 12kg. I too was rooted after a long fight. They just don't give in.
Also noticed fish hanging deep on the sounder while close to schools of boiling LT's. Dropped a slug to the bottom and scored a nice size doggie.
