Hi all,

Took a few mates from work out for the morning on Saturday to see if we could catch a macky or two. Picked them up from the boat ramp near the seaway and headed south to Palm beach reef. We anchored on the reef by 5am with boats filling the reef up pretty quickly. Baits in the water but couldn't get a touch. There were people everywhere catching fish but we couldn't lose a bait. by 7am i had had enough, so pulled lines in and decided to go for a troll.

Lures hadn't been in the water five minutes before we had a double hook up on our hands. Two nice spots were boated and the morning was looking much better. From then on it was pretty constant fishing. We ended up boating six spotties before 8:30 and then heading back up the coastline. Caught another spotty trolling through Mermaid reef. Boated seven fish for the morning, and missed one from bad gaff shot. Great morning out and pleanty of meat to take home.

Good stuff Dominic. Good to see the change of tactic paid off. Just as a matter of interest, what lures were you trolling?
Cheers,
Dane

50gram and 80gram TT lures. Very expensive, but they really do work.

always pays to throw lures when fishing with baits. Some mornings they will take nothing but Lures.

Great effort [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Dom, I had a look at the TT site, are the lures the metal head skirts?

Yes, they have the hollow head with jets on the side. This helps more air escape and puts out an air bubble trail like you have never seen. They run really well. They come in great colours.

Was a sceptic at first, always been used to hex heads and screamer's. But there are much better lures
