Now I debated whether I shoild post or not as I didn't really have a real serious fishing day but here goes anyway.
Headed out in my boat to find some new marks mid morning but found it a bit choppy so I went to the 12 fathom reef off the gold coast. Had some great shows of bait so I jigged and latched onto slimy mackarel and the odd yakka. Sent them back down with a couple of hooks but they kept coming back missing their bottom end. Chopped clean off each time without a click on the rathchet. Kept loosing my rigs to biteoffs too so I figure they were large Tailor about??

Anyway had to head home and get the missus so I took some wire with me and returned with her. She had a ball jigging slimies (I'll keep some for frozen bait rather than pillies) We spotted a whale and a pod of dolfins.
My new burley bucket worked a treat and had a 5 foot hemmerhead circle the boat for quite a while. Had to leave before we could get serious but a fantastic day all up.

Yeah I'm not complaining at all, mighty cool experience and I taught the missus how to jig up some bait. Another fantastic day on the water.

Just what the doctor ordered. Even if you don't catch much, it's a great way of forgetting all the problems. Stress relief without the pills.

I have been thinking about a berley bucket.
What do you have and what are your thoughts on what you've got?

I took a length of PVC drain pipe for mounting on the back of the boat, put a cap in one end and then drilled 6mm holes all over it and in the end cap. The pipe sits 50% under water.
Took a piece of aluminium piping and hacked some edges into the end as a masher.
All I needed to do was toss the odd slimie into the pipe and mash away and the slick was just perfect with small pices of fish drifting away. Just mash away now and again and voila!!
The missus was very happy that I took all me old pillies with me out and cleaned out the freezer... ::)
As for the Bali judge... he wont fit as its already full of journalists. ;)

Glad you enjoyed your day mate. Sometimes it's nice just to get out, whether you catch or not. Those (decent sized) slimeys aren't bad eating if you fry 'm crispy
