Hi All,

Went for a paddle in the brissi river this morningon my kayak after a few squire on plastics. Plastic of choice today was 4"berkley Bass minnow in pumkinseed on a 1/4oz TT head on 4lb fireline. Fished in between 20-35ft and with the outgoing tide jigging of the bottom.

First drop managed a Rock cod of 50cm while waiting for the tide to start ripping out. Managed 3 squire for the session, 2 legal, a 37 and 40cm ;D ;D Had to take it easy on the drag with 4lb string but good fun!!

A few bait boys fishing with little success, I think next time they might try a plastic or two ;D

Cheers
Aaron

Hi 1337,

Towards the mouth. I tell ya I have sore arms from paddling against the tide all morning.

Cheers

Aaron you did well to catch them on the 2 kilo string especially that cod......nothing better than fishing light tackle and hearing that drag scream before you get control of the fish.
I'll be out there tomorrow trying out the 2 kilo gear so look out all you squire...lol
Cheers Brent :)

Thanks everyone,

Brent, I think i might spool the spare spool up with some 6-8lb fireline. I have seen and heard of some jewies caught around where I was yesterday, just for insurance anyway. I still plan to try macklay island shallows and i might even head up to redcliffe and try for some squire there soon.

Cheers
Aaron
