Had the Master aboard today for some deepwater angling.

Made it to the 50 fathom line by 6 am and dropped straight onto the fish. First to the boat was a double of pearlies a little on the small side so they went back ;). Next a couple of pan size squire and a pearly hit the ice box.

A steady stream of fish were comin aboard until on one drift the master and my normal decky both come up solid on good fish, 10 mins or so seen the Master with a 40 lb Cobia and my decky Rob with a 25lb Cobia as well, both went back to the brine ;D

Next drift the Master groans with the weight of a solid fish, both the decky and I chuckled at the though "he is on another Cobia" none the less he battled the fish to the surface only for our Jaws to drop to the deck at the size of his Sampson. It went 58lb :o see pic below

A few more drifts a couple more pearlies the master is hooked up solid again, this time a 45 lb SAMBO. Now he is startin to whinge about the 105 meters of water we are fishin in :o He couldn't even lift the fish for the pic, had to get Rob to do it ;)

After this he pulls out a deepwater Jig to give it ago >:( I recon he was just lucky that nuthin took the jig cause it was sure gonna be painfull to boat another brute of a fish.

Took home 15 Pearlies, 2 squire, 1 green mowy, 1 58lb sambo

I have one pic, willo has a few on his camera.

This is the 58lb Sambo

Hi Guys,
I was also on the 50 fathom line but off southport,we managed a few nice squire and a cobia, got hit by a couple of freight trains that could not be stopped, unsure whether they were AJ or BIG cobia,

Good to see most people got fish,

Bloody great stuff guys.
How do you rig for 105M deep drifts?
I'd assume large weights and a paternoster rig and strip baits??
