Hi all,
After work yesterday arvo, Sam and I thought we would go and chase some squire out from the River mouth. Caught 2 nice Squire 38cm and 43cm. Fishing went quiet and was about to call it quits when I got a bite, and ended up with this ;D It is my first ever Snapper so I'm over the Moon today. ;D ;D

Great fish, especially for the river [smiley=thumbsup.gif] What did you get him on? I'm interested to find out more about where abouts people are targeting squire in the Brissy river, obviously its at/close to the mouth, are you fishing near the sunken wall or similar, or further out along the rock wall Fisherman's Island side?? Feel free to pm me if you don't feel like sharing it with the world ;) :-X ;D
Again, top fish :)

Great Fish Richo you should be proud as punch!!!
That's an awesome big squire there Richo ;D
Congrats and well done!
Just curious, without giving your spot away obviously, is it close enough to do in a 11 foot tinny in good conditions? I've never had a fish near that big in the estuaries, and if it's possible to give it a lash near the river mouth I'd be keen to know...
Thanks,
Mike

Started fishing with plastics, had a few small hits but no hook ups, once it got dark switched over to ganged pilchards, minimal weight just enough to brush the bottom. Caught in 25ft of water over rubble bottom.
Well done ! I am jealous!! Still waiting for my first.................

Usually they'll eat your bait given half a chance.

Good luck! I have now adjusted my diary to include a lot more fishing for snapper! What a buzz. Although somehow, something tells me, I might not be quite as lucky on the next trip. One can only try. It was about time I nailed a good one, finally the big fish drought has broken! :D
