Decided to go out chasing a few snapper with my dad after work and ended up bagging out in 45 mins. Best fish went 4kg cleaned and the others between 2-3kg.
All I have to do now is get a job at the coast so I can fish all day on the weekends. It makes it a bit hard being three hours drive away. But with all the quality fish around at the moment it is definatley worth the drive!!

Sea saw we did stay out longer but after only adding a grassy to the bag it didn't quite feel right to throw back 45cm snapper. Not especially after moving from NSW when you thought a 40cm snapper was a good fish. Just goes to show how destructive the snapper traps are [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

NSW snapper traps? :( Are they banned in QLD? :o Sure have seen some GREAT posts of catches over this w/e. :) And even where I live MNC NSW, not a lot of pro activity, 4kg snapper is a good fish. Thanks for the post, reel killer. Good luck finding that job! :)

nigelr. I don't know if they are banned in QLD it's just that I never see them. When in NSW I used to fish out of Crowdy Head almost every weekend and there were dozens of them out there as well as lobster pots and kingfish traps (when they were legal). I left NSW just as the legal size limit was changed from 28 to 30 cm and I found it pretty hardgoing to catch anything over the limit. Now in QLD we very rarely catch a fish under 35cm.
