Went for a solo fish today, trying to find some new spots for the up coming Flathead Classic (don't forget if you want entry forms just PM myself or Cloud 9).

Put in at Paradise Point around 6am, and went for a quick flick around the Sovereign Island rock walls for some trevally and tailor for about 1/2 hour before searching for the flatties. Ended up with a 35cm luderick and what I think is a Longnosed Trevally ???. If someone can confirm this from the pic, or tell me what it is that would be great. Both fish took a lightly weighted 3" Watermelon Bass Minnow.

Time to head north to the Pin as the very light drizzle started (it didn't stop for the rest of the day), not really enough to be annoying yet as when it was raining the wind seemed to stay away. Stopped at a few spots on the way up with no luck.

Got a call from Marty_Z around 8.30am, Marty is my team mate for the Classic and he was out solo yesterday doing a bit of pre-fishing for the Classic too. He told me about a new spot he got some from yesterday, so that's where I headed. Ended up with 4 flatties to 49cm in about an hour which I was happy with.

Then hit one other favourite spot for a couple of under-sized ones.

Ventured upto the Pin bar for a look and saw the birds busting up big schools of bait, threw a little 10gr raider in amoungst the birds and bait and ended up with 5 little chopper tailor to 35cm. As soon as the tide turned every thing stopped.

Ended up being a pretty good session - trevally, luderick, tailor and flatties (all fish released), as well as a new spot for the Classic (only need another 10 or so ;D)

Cheers

John

Nice fish John. I opted to watch the AFL on TV, but went out Sat and caught several trevally up where I am.

Cheers.

Marcel.
