Like alot of anxious fishos we where looking forward to fishing in good conditions on Sunday [BOM. Variable winds to 10 knots Sunday,Monday and Tuesday]. We left Scarborough around 10 am. the weather was looking a bit ordinary with a few showers and a bit of wind blowing. Arrived near Western Rocks to try to grab a few livies to no avail, noticed a number of boats fishing nearby trying to stay out of the wind [good idea :)].We decided to head further afield past Cape Moreton on a hot tip of large Snapper and Spangles. Conditions were pretty messy and not the good conditions we where hoping for. Fishing buddy Johnny A. noticed a few whale boats nearby, not having seen whales in their envoirnment Johnny A. wanted to get up and close and personal[not to close]. Johnny managed to get a few photos while I tried to keep the boat straight. We still had'nt dropped a line in the water and it was getting close to 2 pm. Sounded around spot X. Still trying to get used to the new JRC sounder [new wet box playing up], found a couple of nice shows, anchored up, started the berley trail going. Johnny A. was using a paternoster set up and I floatling with mono.[ I have recently changed from braid/paternoster rigs and am finding it bit of getting used to].Fishing was slow, floatlining seemed to be the way to go, ended up with 6 average Snapper [not worth taking photos of, but worth eating :)]. Best bait,Winter Whiting frames and Mullet. I know I dropped a few good Snapper because I did'nt let them run for long enough before striking :(. Well put it down to experience.Headed for home around 6.30 pm. along way home in the dark! Had the Snapper for tea, lightly crumbed :). Still have unfinished business with Grandpa Snapper, next time, Zulu.
