Well Snappa never got around to taking us out, so we went there anyway!! Here are a few pics. The fishing is definitely better and we couldnt have picked a better day for our maiden voyage outside! This is my 7lb Jew!!! Much better than the little tackers I have caught previously!

We saw 2 pods of whales, the BIGGEST turtle I have ever seen and what was either a sailfish or a small marlin (about 4 ft long) which was repeatedly jumping out the water!!! INCREDIBLE!!!

Banshee- is a "trag" a Teraglin? Have just consulted Grants, and the pic on page 439 (2002 edition) looks very much like my fish. If that is what it is, then I was lucky to catch it- supposedly mostly caught by night??? I didnt notice the "strong and acrid smell when captured" but it certainly was good eating!!
DC- Call me "Houdini" ;)also IT IS WINTER!!!!
Snappa- Have you tried eating them? We threw back about 10 good sized leather jacket, but from now on, if we catch 'em, we eat 'em!!!
Slugo- Thanks for the compliment. We were using a combination of squid and marinated mullet fillet on a paternoster rig (is that how you spell it???) squid on the top hook and mullet on the bottom hook.

That title jugs suggests that you got up to more then just fishing out there! ;)
Your fish is most deffently a trag (teraglin jew) and is common to the area. there caught during the day quite often and are usually in large schools...foxy

Nice trag. They get really active when you get them onboard. Leatherjackets are good eating but its just the effort of skinning them and actually catching them as they bite through anything.
