Left brisbane at 230am sunday morning and headed up the coast for the brisbane sinking i thought i would be smart and miss the expected crowds (wrong) i had a 20 min wait to use the ramp but did manage to get a car park. To kill the time (6hours) before the bang i headed to raper shoals and tried a bit of slow trolling hoping to raise a snappa or to. Ok plan b, out came the plastics and i started to work the bait schools that i had identified during trolling. First cast and a nice 52cm squire came aboard motored back to start the same drift again this time deployed the para as the wind was about 12knots and gusting and making fishing plastics very hard.
Well the plastic got absolutley smashed this time and i was in great danger of being spooled the problem you see was i had to get the para in, fight the fish, and start the motor and chase, all by my self . Who says men can't do 3 things at once, anyway the result was a 3.9 kg snapper ( pb on plastics) Back to the top of the drift , no para this time just a bigger jig head ,third lift and bang i'm on and its huge the stratic has steam comming of it i start the motor and give chase this fish is making the last fish feel like a baby the drag is set at 1 kg and is now where near enough fortunately we are over sand and getting further away from any structure so i settle in for the long haul. Aproximately 55min later a 9kg king fish is gaffed and in the boat while it was a lot of fun it was very hard on the reel. Duncs the stratics needs a service!
Headed back and in across the pincushion bar to pick up the father in law and then out to the sinking were we met up with Spaniard_King and his family and watched the big event. I have never seen so many boats it was chaos. Anyway after a small delay the brisbane sank and everyone went home AT ONCE that was chaos i haven't laughed so hard in years talk about a s%$t fight . dropped the father in law at the beach with the car keys and headed for pincushion and pulled the boat out in the maroochy no problem with traffic or idiots.
Ian
Ps. Spaniard_king took soom photo's of my snapper and kingy as i didn,t have my camera( left it at home) hopefully he can post them ???

3 very nice fish there, and each one better than the last! What size braid/mono did you get them on? Was it a yellow tail or a black king? I fish by myself a bit too so I know how hard it can be to get gear in and chase and land a fish by yourself. Well done!

Yellow tail king
8lb fireline and 13lb flurocarbon leader on a 2500 stratic and bronzeback loomis 3-5kg. Someone asked not so long ago weather the loomis were worth the money ,well when you get hooked up to fish that size and with that much power the answer is yes!!!!

Thanks garry for the pics

Trevor ,Anytime mate the water is salty though, it wasn't the size of the fish that was a problem it was the lack of size of rod ,reel and braid 8lb that was the issue.
