Well first off on Wednesday went to Wuruma dam water is real low 6%... not a touch...Nothing...So water temp at Awoonga is still low... at best 17.5...so off to Monduran on the water at 9 first fish #three casts later a rat 55cm... What followed was one of those days... Just magic for this time of the year By 12oclock 6 fish in the boat lost other 4 Caught another 2 after lunch...Got a visit from the Fox clan. Jackie had a cast while we where having a chat...and you guessed it shes on ... 80cm Barra...All of my fish where all about the same size 70cm caught on a Lively Lure Arafura Barra 130 {have a look at the photo} Water temp was #18.5 to 20.5 ..l caught them in the bays in water 6ft or less casting towards the bank as close as you can to the Lantana bushes .. plenty of pauses in the retrive...Why were they on ?? Barro was low ..wind was wrong ..moon what moon ? Maybe this ..it has happened to me before... we are expecting rain maybe that turned the switch on ....or just good luck....

Good one mate [smiley=thumbsup.gif].
LCC... Monduran is Fred Haigh Dam and is located aprox 25 km north of Gin Gin. Just 4 hrs drive from Brisbane and is a top fishing hole for Barra & Bass. And has a few XXL fish like this 24 kg model caught on last Novembers black moon.
Cheers Les

Awoonga, nice effort. Just wonderibg, what temp do you believe that the barra start to sook and dont want to play. Last year I was at Monduran in November and the water temp was 30-32C and we cound not manage a hook up. Just those pesky catties that wanted to play, not a Barra or Bass hooked yet could see them on the sounder in mostly the deep section around the hump in the middle all hanging off the bottom.

Steven...Been there done that ! Whatever you do just cant get a hookup ... if they are in the Thermocline down deep not much that will get them to come up...What about a downrigger ? get your lure down to where they are......The barra that l caught in Monduran this trip had the lure on the outside of there body So they just wanted the lure out of there Territory....Barra are very territorial... Some of the time they will live with other barra l have caught up to 15 on the one snag but if something comes along that they just dont want in there face ... they will chase it away... other times they are after a feed

Magic day alright Awoonga, Jacky still hasn't stop reminding me that she caught a barra and I didn't. But thats alright I just poke the huge bruise she has on her knee from when she fell over in the boat trying to get her rod around that tree when she had the barra on.
