... Well got home at about 1am from my trip out with Cheech, and had to be at Scarborough Ramp at 4:30am for my second trip of the weekend... So I tried to get some brownie points with the better half, and did the dishes ;D Read B'n'B, and changed the rods over into the car.

Got up to the ramp and met up with Sunny (Carleton) for a morning fish out at Moreton. Left there and cruised over to Curtain in his Haines. Weather was fantastic, and we watched the sunrise from Curtain.

Fished there for a while, but nothing came onboard :'( So we up anchored and went north a bit to a spot we had done ok at previously. No shows on the sounder, but then we had a pod of about 4 whales running up past the boat. Watched them for a little while, and then started up the berley trail. Fished there for while, but still nothing... :-[ There were quite a few boils on the water though, and although we cast small slugs around, nothing except for my first grinner!!! ;D

We then decided to go drift up north of Moreton for a while, and we caught all sorts of ooglies, but nothing of any interest >:( I did manage to catch what I thought was a leather jacket, but apparently it's a Trigger Fish? There were also lots of small wrasse, and other littlies...

Then took a run down to Tangalooma for a quick look see, before running back to Scarborough. We stopped in on the reefs at Redcliffe for a minute, and caught a bream and a few small Moses Perch.

All-in-all a beautiful day, but frustrating as hell we didn't get anything decent. Got a lot of ideas for next time though, so we will be back to get revenge on the buggers!!!

Is this a trigger fish? He pulled alright... Nothing in the picture to see size against, but was about 35cm or so...

Yep. Looks like Dan used up all our good luck on Friday Night :-?

Just one wierd fishy thing after another. I think its been a while since I had such a quiet day at Moreton. Seems we could catch anything we liked as long as we didn't want to take it home. The tuna had great fun boiling all around the boat and not noticing anything we threw at them.

Especially frustrating because I did a dive at Curtin the weekend before and I KNOW what's down there. All of which was pretty usely info because none of it wanted to bite.

Still, nothing like a great day on the water even if you don't catch much. That moment when the quiet of the early morning was broken by the huff! of a whale passing near us was awesome.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the grinner club Dan. There's no getting away from them after you catch your first ;D

That's what I'm worried about!!! Damn they make good bait though... Every time I we drifted & I had that on, it got hit on the drop!

This is just a good excuse to go back out there and get them another time!!! ;D I'm ready when you are...

That is indeed a Trigger Fish. Don't get too close to them if you go for a snorkel. Got a couple of excellent photos of a mate being attacked by one with teeth bared. They are a serious fish if they get upset. It all but hunted my mate out of the water.

Cheers,
NICK.
