View Full Version : Big Flaties at The Tweed

Met 2 of my mates down the Tweed for an early morning fish this morning. After a bit of trolling to see if there were any jacks around we decided to look for some flathead in the deep water. Steve and Ben had a double hook up on two beautiful fish and landed them both. After a few pics I got into the action as well.The two they got were 84 and 85cm. Mine went 85 as well. We caught a few more after that up to 74 and were back home by 8:30. An awesome morning wih no wind to speak of.Here are a few of the pics

well done they are some very good flathead. its good to see that there are plenty around. and some good photos as well.

Great fish! What would they weight? 4 or 5KGs?

Isn't it great to be able to get fish like that before work!

Great looking fish Rod, you said the tides were looking good for today, right on the mark. Great photos too. Well done. Was that the same deep water as on Monday?

Not sure but they were very fat fish mate. Up around 5kg

My God Rod you are the flathead king!!!! Buggar the restaurant business and get into flathead chartering..??!!

Do you think I would have a chance at catching any decent size flatties land based down there.

I dont think so, you would lose too much gear and most of the spots we fish are only really accessible by boat. But you might be lucky mate you never know

Mate im on my knee's doing strange incantations to the flathead gods.....(ie...ROD!!)

Great fish again rod. I almost just cut and copy my response to your reports. They are just great fish and alot of them.
